SEATTLE, WASHINGTON Chaos erupted at the University of Washington this week as Antifa-aligned militants took over portions of the campus in protest against the state of Israel. What began as a demonstration quickly escalated into a dangerous occupation, with multiple fires set across university grounds, threatening student safety and forcing local authorities to intervene.
On Monday evening, protestors wearing all black and covering their faces—an identifying tactic of Antifa—erected barricades near the university's Red Square and proceeded to occupy academic buildings. Chanting slogans calling for “intifada” and the “abolition of Zionism,” the mob reportedly clashed with campus security and harassed Jewish students.
Multiple fires were intentionally set throughout the night—one near the campus library and another outside a dormitory. Videos shared on social media show masked agitators carrying makeshift shields and hurling projectiles at law enforcement. Authorities responded by issuing an official order to disperse, declaring the gathering unlawful due to escalating violence and safety threats.
The University of Washington issued a statement condemning the violence and urging protestors to vacate the campus immediately. "While we affirm the right to peaceful protest, criminal behavior and endangerment of our community will not be tolerated," the university wrote.
Seattle police, alongside campus security, moved in late Tuesday morning to begin clearing the occupied areas. A handful of arrests were made, though authorities exercised restraint to avoid further media backlash. Fire crews worked through the night to extinguish flames and prevent further damage.
This is not an isolated incident. Across the country, far-left activists have hijacked university spaces to advance radical agendas, often using the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a justification for chaos. The University of Washington episode echoes similar uprisings at Columbia, UCLA, and other institutions where protesters demand divestment from Israel but employ violent and intimidating tactics that resemble insurrection, not civil discourse.
It’s worth noting that many of these actions are organized by coalitions that include Antifa-aligned groups—entities with a documented history of arson, rioting, and threats against law enforcement.
While the images of burning barricades and masked radicals were splashed across independent media outlets, major networks offered a muted response. Some anchors downplayed the violence as "student unrest" or "heated political expression."
Had this been a conservative demonstration—especially one involving prayer or flag-waving—the reaction would have been swift and merciless. It’s yet another example of the media’s double standard and how the radical left is often shielded from accountability under the guise of activism.
The takeover of the University of Washington campus by Antifa militants is not just an isolated act of protest—it is a warning. When lawlessness is tolerated and media bias excuses violent extremism, American institutions become battlegrounds. It is time for university leaders, elected officials, and law enforcement to send a clear message: mobs do not rule in a constitutional republic.
