When Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire posted his blunt assessment of New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, the progressive machine did exactly what it always does: screamed "Islamophobia," demanded an apology, and tried to cancel him. But here's the truth that no one in elite circles wants to admit—Shaun Maguire is right, and we need more people in high places unafraid to call out radical ideologies for what they are.
In a since-viral tweet, Maguire said of Mamdani, "He comes from a culture that lies about everything... It’s literally a virtue to lie if it advances his Islamist agenda."
That may sound harsh to some, but Maguire was not talking about Muslims in general. He was talking about Islamism — the political ideology that seeks to impose Islamic law through government and cultural pressure. It's an ideology that has infiltrated universities, influenced policy, and now, with Mamdani, is threatening to take hold of America’s largest city.
Maguire called it out. And for that, the mob wants him gone.
In response to Maguire's truth-telling, nearly 600 tech founders, executives, and investors signed an open letter demanding Sequoia reprimand him, implement new "hate speech" policies, and launch an investigation.
But their overreaction only confirms the culture of cowardice and censorship that has overtaken Silicon Valley. These signatories aren't protecting the truth. They're protecting the narrative—a narrative that shames anyone who challenges progressive orthodoxy, especially when it involves race, religion, or immigration.
Mamdani is not just a run-of-the-mill Democrat. He is a socialist, an open critic of Israel, and a man whose political rise is backed by the DSA and anti-American activists. He has called to defund the police, supported BDS, and represents a vision for America rooted not in the Constitution, but in grievance-based, globalist activism.
Maguire saw through the media polish and called him out for what he is—a Trojan horse for Islamist ideology wrapped in social justice language.
The open letter gave Sequoia a July 14 deadline to respond. What they decide won't just affect their internal PR. It will reveal whether one of the most powerful firms in the world is willing to stand up to the cultural bullies, or whether they’ll fold like so many others.
This is bigger than Maguire. It's about whether Silicon Valley is a place for honest discourse or a playground for woke totalitarianism.
Shaun Maguire is not the problem. He's one of the few brave enough to say what many are thinking but too afraid to express. Zohran Mamdani represents a real threat to New York's future—and by extension, to the American values of liberty, law, and truth. Instead of punishing Maguire, we should be thanking him. He's doing what more Americans in positions of influence need to do: speak plainly, stand firm, and refuse to bow to the mob.
